New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a multi-billion-dollar subsidy designed to ensure New York’s nuclear power plants will continue to operate through 2029. Cuomo’s Clean Energy Standard is part of a plan to reduce New York’s carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent and to produce half of New York’s electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030.
