Employee Spotlight: Greg Morton - 30 Years
AMS honors GREG MORTON as he marks 30 YEARS of loyal service to the company in February 2025. Greg has been a pillar employee and a significant contributor to AMS’s growth and many successes since 1995 when he began as one of five software developer engineers. In 1997 he became AMS’s Software Development Manager, a position he held for nearly 20 years until 2016, when he was promoted to Chief Technical Officer (CTO). A vital part of the executive management team, Greg is responsible for all technical activities for the company but still has a passion for software and hardware development. In 2024 he also added Quality Assurance Manager to his role at AMS.
Among the numerous responsibilities Greg takes on for AMS, he oversees the company’s research projects to make sure they are technically on track for success; and was instrumental in the AMS-TR-0720R2-A issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in August 2021 to support Online Monitoring (OLM) of pressure transmitters for condition based calibrations. Greg received his 12th patent that enables OLM in 2024. Greg heads our OLM implementation in nuclear power plants with license amendment requests (LARs) approved for 6 units and under review for 11 units by the NRC as of February 2025. In addition, Greg approves results for AMS’s core business activities and any troubleshooting issues that may arise in the field.
Greg attended Tennessee Technological University where he received two B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1992 and a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1995. He spent two years during college in the late 1980s on CO-OP at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN, where he worked on display software for turbine engine testing and oversaw instrumentation connections and data review of testing rocket engines.
Greg grew up in Manchester, TN. He married his wife Sandy in 2022 and they have enjoyed traveling to Japan, South Korea, UK, and Utah. He has two daughters—Kaeley, 21 (senior UT VOL in Accounting), and Ella, 19 (freshman UT VOL in Music Education). In his free time, he enjoys exercising, yoga, playing volleyball, and disc golf. He enjoys running and typically runs four half-marathons each year.
CONGRATULATIONS TO GREG MORTON FOR REACHING THIS AMAZING MILESTONE.
