Employee Spotlight: Alex Hashemian - 10 Years
Alex is a senior engineer at AMS who leads field testing services at nuclear power plants as well as research reactors and test facilities in the United States and abroad. He has served as Project Manager (PM) and Principle Investigator (PI) for research and development (R&D) projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy related to instrumentation and control (I&C) system technologies for next-generation nuclear reactors. Alex has also led projects for AMS conducted on behalf of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) related to wireless sensors and devices, distributed antenna system (DAS) technologies, electromagnetic (EM) spectrum management methods, and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). To date, he has authored or co-authored more than twenty journal articles, technical reports, and conference papers and has been awarded three U.S. patents.
Prior to joining AMS full-time, Alex earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees at the University of Tennessee where his graduate research work focused on in-situ sensor response characterization in support of thermal protection systems for hypersonic aircraft and re-entry vehicles.
Alex is happily married to his wife of three years, Sawyer. Together, they have two pet cats named Azrael (black) and Roxie (brown tabby). Alex and Sawyer enjoy traveling together, kayaking or paddleboarding, and biking.
