Dr. Chad Kiger Attends IEC Meeting in Kista, Sweden
AMS Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering Manager, Dr. Chad Kiger, recently participated in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) SC45A meetings held in Kista, Sweden. The SC45A subcommittee of IEC focuses on the development of standards for nuclear power plants.
Dr. Kiger was recently nominated to be the convener for Working Group 10 of SC45A which deals specifically with the Aging Management of nuclear equipment. This working group met over a 2‑day period to discuss four of the current standards being developed within the working group as well as to discuss potential new standards to develop.
Additionally, Dr. Kiger participated in several other working groups to gain knowledge of the activities within IEC and to lend expertise as needed. He was also recognized during the meeting as one of two experts within IEC/SC45A to receive the 2021 IEC 1906 award given to those that have made significant contributions to the IEC.
The next IEC meeting is expected to be held in Egypt in the Fall of 2023.
