AMS Engineer Receives Best Presentation At EQ Conference
In November 2023, AMS Applications Engineer Adam Deatherage and AMS Cable Services Group Manager Casey Sexton attended Curtiss-Wright’s annual Equipment Qualification (EQ) Technical Meeting and Training in Clearwater, FL. Curtiss-Wright and the Nuclear Utility Group on Equipment Qualification (NUGEQ) host this event annually to provide a space for the EQ community to exchange ideas and share common problems.
At the conclusion of each conference, attendees vote on the best presentation to win the Tom Hencey Best Presentation award. This year, AMS’s Adam Deatherage received first-place votes on 50% of the ballots and votes on two-thirds of the ballots for his presentation titled “Cable Condition Monitoring for Aging Management and Life Extension.”
The presentation specifically discussed new technology and acceptance criteria that AMS developed under a recently concluded research and development project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The results of this work are helping nuclear plants to better understand the condition of installed cables, inform replacement schedules, and avoid unnecessary replacements.
