Employee Spotlight: Codi Ferree - 5 Years
As a Materials and Research Engineer at AMS, Codi Ferree plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of cable materials, particularly in the nuclear sector. Her work involves evaluating the condition of aged and degraded cables through detailed polymer characterization assessments, as well as providing support for cable testing services in the field.
Having grown up in South Florida before moving to Seymour, Tennessee, Codi decided to stay close to her roots by pursuing her career in Knoxville, where she graduated with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While studying there, Codi gained valuable experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant. Her research focused on advanced fiber-reinforced plastics and composites, which provided her with hands-on experience in materials characterization. Collaborating with the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and working at state-of-the-art facilities like the Fibers and Composites Manufacturing Facility (FCMF) and the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) laid the foundation for the expertise she now brings to AMS.
Outside of her professional life, Codi is a dedicated family person and an animal lover. A proud fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and the Miami Dolphins, she also has a deep love for all things spooky, with Halloween being her favorite holiday. She enjoys spending time with her close-knit family, which includes two older brothers and seven nieces and nephews, and proudly calls herself “the cool aunt.” A passionate advocate for animals, the environment, and human rights, she finds joy in crocheting, especially creating sweaters for her dogs.
Congratulations on this incredible 5-year milestone, Codi!
