AMS Team Visits INL for DOE STTR Phase I Project

In June 2022, the Department of Energy (DOE) awarded AMS a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) research and development project entitled, “Advanced Process Instrumentation System for Next-Generation Nuclear Reactors,” led by Senior Engineer Mr. Alex Hashemian. Under this project, AMS engineers are working with Dr. Richard Skifton of Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to develop an advanced instrumentation system that will leverage the high temperature irradiation resistance thermocouple (HTIR-TC) developed at INL to provide accurate and reliable measurements of critical process parameters such as temperature, flow, and level in next-generation reactors.

Mr. Alex Hashemian, Dr. Jake Houser, and Mr. Shawn Tyler recently took a trip to Idaho Falls to tour the INL facilities, train Dr. Skifton on AMS test equipment and procedures, and collect initial data on HTIR-TCs installed in the Flowing Autoclave System at INL’s Engineering Demonstration Facility.

We are excited to be working with INL to bring the HTIR-TC technology to the nuclear industry!
