Dr. Hashemian Reappointed Chairman of ANS H&A Committee
AMS President, Dr. Hash Hashemian, has been reappointed Chairman of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Honors and Awards (H&A) Committee. This will be Dr. Hashemian’s third term as Chairman of H&A, and he has had several accomplishments as Chair, including:
- Overhauled and simplified the Fellow nomination process to encourage more industry nominees
- Increased nominations for all national H&A awards (At the 2021 Winter Meeting, every award had at least one nominee for the first time in ANS history.)
- Hosted the top tier awards dinner where the 2021 ANS Winter Meeting awardees were recognized and honored
- Established the Social Responsibility in the Nuclear Community Award to recognize outstanding efforts in social responsibility promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the nuclear community
Dr. Hashemian is excited to continue serving the society as Chairman of H&A. When asked about his reappointment, he said, “It is a great honor for me to continue serving ANS in this important position. I am grateful to the ANS President for giving me this opportunity.”
