AMS Hosted the GAIN Team at Knoxville Headquarters
AMS was excited to host the Gateway for Accelerated Innovation in Nuclear (GAIN) team in March 2022 at our headquarters in Knoxville, TN. Our engineers were able to give a tour of our facilities and share some of our current work and research with the GAIN team.
Research Engineer Shawn Tyler showed the AMS Flow Loop and the new microreactor demonstration setup that our engineers have constructed under a current Department of Energy Small Business Innovation Research Phase II project entitled On-Line Monitoring System to Support Autonomous Remote Microreactor Operations.
Shawn was accompanied by Research Engineer Jake Houser who shared our experience working with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory under a GAIN voucher on a previous project to test instrumentation and control sensors and cables for small modular reactors.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer Morgan Berg discussed her work in the AMS EMC semi-anechoic test chamber and gave a demonstration on how to eliminate high frequency interference which allows our engineers to help qualify various electrical equipment for installation in nuclear power plants.
Applications Engineers Adam Deatherage and John Ward also met with the team to discuss the latest work being done at AMS.
It was a pleasure getting to host the GAIN team and hear about the wonderful work they are doing to support innovation in the nuclear industry!
