Brent D. Shumaker, Senior Engineering Manager at Analysis and Measurement Services Corporation (AMS), was recently elevated to the grade of Fellow by the International Society of Automation (ISA). Elevation to the distinguished grade of ISA Fellow is granted to ISA Senior Members in recognition of their outstanding achievements in scientific or engineering fields as recognized by ISA peers. Mr. Shumaker was awarded ISA Fellow in the Power Industry Division for his significant contributions to the development and implementation of online technologies to assess the health and remaining useful life of critical components in nuclear power plants.
AMS is an award-winning nuclear technology consulting and testing firm headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee (USA), where Mr. Shumaker has worked as a full-time engineer since 2001. A Certified LabVIEW Developer, he is co-author of 6 U.S. patents, and is the author or co-author of more than 50 journal articles and industry publications, including standards for the International Society of Automation (ISA) and reports for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Mr. Shumaker has participated in numerous industry conferences and international activities for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and was recently elected as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Human Factors Instrumentation and Controls Division of the American Nuclear Society (ANS).
Mr. Shumaker will be presented with the ISA Fellow award at the 55th ISA Honors & Awards Gala, an annual event honoring individuals for their contributions to and advancement of automation across all industries. This year’s gala will be held on October 29, 2017, at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Tampa Bay, Florida.
