A technical report for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) entitled “Wireless Sensor Survey and General Specification” was recently published in April 2018 and authored by several engineers at AMS including Chad J. Kiger (Principal Investigator) and David N. Jackson and Kendrick L. Stiles (Co-Investigators).
The report describes research sponsored by EPRI and presents the various wireless sensor technologies that are commercially available in nuclear power plants; an overview of EMI/RFI concerns for wireless sensor technology, including laboratory test results for numerous sensors; guidance for specifying and procuring wireless sensor technology to meet a particular equipment condition monitoring application; and the suggested responsibilities of various departments within the power plant during the implementation of wireless technology. An abstract of the report can be read here.
